Description

Dr. Howard Jordan served as the sixth president of Savannah State College from 1963 until 1971. Curricula improvements in the general education program of teacher education, and in business administration, as well as other areas, were carried forward. A graduate studies program in elementary education was initiated in the summer of 1968. During his administration, Robert M. Schreir, the first identified white student, was formally admitted into the University in Fall 1963. In Fall 1970 Savannah State College partnered with Armstrong State College to launch joint programs.
